Hours of work: 40 hours per week

Work pattern: 5 out of 7 days (to include some weekend work)

Salary: £30,000 per annum, paid monthly

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team at the newly refurbished catering facility at Raynes Park Community Tennis Centre. We’re looking for a full-time Supervisor to lead our team and drive catering excellence within our busy cafe!

As Supervisor, you will lead and manage a dedicated team of up to 4 members, creating weekly rotas and adeptly delegate tasks. Where necessary, you will be required to deputise for the General Manager in their absence.

We are looking for a leader with strong managerial skills, backed by experience in catering or hospitality. You will have a keen eye for detail, outstanding communication skills as well as a passion for delivering unforgettable experiences alongside a steadfast commitment to food safety and health & safety practices.

Your Role

  • Ensure your area is set up and operationally ready for opening to the agreed standards and expectations outlined by Food & Drink at Wimbledon.
  • Adhere to the rota provided and record staff shift timings accurately, managing staff break times appropriately and ensuring budgeted hours are managed effectively.
  • Support your line manager in adapting the rota where necessary, in line with changes to operational requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate and clean welfare facilities are available to the team daily.
  • Ensure you and the team have received the necessary training and support your line manager in developing new areas for training.
  • Provide daily briefings to your team to ensure steps of service are understood and delivered, and delegate tasks to colleagues appropriately.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed including within kitchen preparation and pot wash areas.
  • Consider the “guest journey” at all times, ensuring all front of house areas are kept clean and tidy, queues are managed, and tables are cleared efficiently to encourage the turnover of guests.
  • Serve our guests and clients at the counter as directed, taking payment on electronic till systems.
  • Communicate regularly, in a positive and clear manner, with the chefs, other managers within your area, and the team to ensure key information is shared and the operation runs smoothly.
  • Ensure all aspects of preparation, stocking and presentation are to the Food & Drink at Wimbledon standards.
  • Ensure that all food is prepared with due care and attention, particularly with regards to special dietary requirements, allergens and shelf life.
  • Actively promote the reduction of wastage within the team.
  • Ensure all areas, surfaces, equipment and fridges are regularly cleaned, sanitised and tidied, before, during and at the end of your shift and all necessary paperwork is completed as instructed.
  • Ensure counters and fridges are sufficiently stocked throughout the service period, adhering to product placement guidelines.
  • Ensure stock rooms and cupboards are organised and clean, to allow for easy stock rotation and reconciliation.
  • Ensure deliveries are processed and managed correctly and stored correctly in accordance with company systems.
  • Reconcile stock on a weekly basis, as instructed by your manager.
  • Actively gain customer feedback and escalate any service issues to your line manager immediately and highlight areas for improvement.
  • Provide a handover, where necessary, in an appropriate manner to other members of the management team and to those who are opening the following morning.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the daily closing procedures are adhered to and all paperwork is completed and signed off.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties asked of you, including being flexible in covering tasks outside of your role-specific duties.
