Epsom Downs Racecourse is the home of one of the most iconic events in the British sporting and social calendar – The Epsom Derby

Derby Day dates back to 1780 and is still the greatest flat race in the world.  The Derby remains the race that everyone wants to win, as horses and riders are pushed to their limit around the unique and challenging course.

As well as race fixtures, Epsom Downs regularly hosts private and corporate events throughout the year, including exhibitions, boxing & cage fighting as well as conferences and a very busy Christmas party season.  There are regular opportunities for work both in evenings and weekends, as well as throughout the working week. If you work at The Epsom Downs Racecourse we are also able to offer opportunities at other local racecourses, Kempton Park and Sandown Park which are staffed by the same team.


**Getting there**

By road

The racecourse is just a few minutes from Epsom Town Centre on the B290 Epsom Downs Road or alternatively just off junction 9 of the M25.

By rail

There Are 3 stations close to the racecourse, Tattenham Corner, Epsom and Epsom Downs.  The closest station is Tattenham Corner, which is only a 10 minute walk to the racecourse and is in Travelcard zone 6.  Epsom Downs is also in the travelcard zone and is a 20 minute walk to the racecourse.

<h3>Job Description</h3> We have an exciting opportunity to join our People team at Food &amp; Drink at Wimbledon, as we expand our operations we are seeking a highly skilled Data and Payroll Manager to join our dynamic People team. <h3>Overview</h3>Reporting directly to the Head of People Operations, the HR Data and Payroll Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing all aspects of payroll administration and data management, with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, forecasting payroll expenses, and providing valuable insights to support strategic decision-making within Payroll.<h3> </h3><h3>Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Report directly to the Head of People Operations and collaborate closely with the HR and finance teams.</li><li>Manage and execute weekly variable payroll and agency payroll processes.</li><li>Forecast weekly variable payroll expenses and reconcile payroll reports on a regular basis.</li><li>Maintain and manage the weekly WFM system to ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance.</li><li>Oversee year-round and Championships HR Purchase Order logs</li><li>Develop and maintain payroll processes to ensure business continuity and compliance with regulations.</li><li>Compile and manage labour planners for Wimbledon Championships</li><li>Guide the Championships Staffing team in executing payroll processes effectively.</li><li>Reconcile and report Championships daily and weekly labour spend.</li><li>Process and manage all Championships expenses and reconcile pay queries in a timely manner</li><li>Liaise with department heads to assess labour planner changes and amendments.</li><li>Provide support to the People Operations team with Championships recruitment, screening, and onboarding processes.</li><li>Oversee the workforce management system and provide financial insights into recruitment and training expenditure</li><li>Offer guidance on overspend, budgeting, and forecasting weekly for Year-round and Championships labour spend.</li><li>Train teams on the usage and maintenance of workforce management system</li><li>Maintain and manage SOPs surrounding payroll and labour spend</li><li>Manage inbox communication and staff inquiries related to payroll</li><li>Stay updated on legalities of payroll deductions, policies, and regulations.</li></ul><h3> </h3><h3>Desirable</h3><ul><li>Proven experience in payroll administration and data management, preferably in a fast-paced event environment.</li><li>Strong understanding of payroll principles, regulations, and compliance requirements.</li><li>Proficiency in payroll software/systems and advanced MS Excel skills.</li><li>Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide valuable insights.</li><li>Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.</li><li>Detail-orientated with a commitment to maintaining data integrity and accuracy.</li><li>Major Events experience supporting and working within a People Operations function.</li></ul>
